Overview
Thanks to everyone who applied in the last round. We have selected four groups working to change the face of social and political life in Baltimore as recipients: Baltimore Green Currency Association, Communities United, Baltimore Racial Justice Action, and the United Workers Association.
In our first grant cycle, five projects were selected to receive $2,500 grants: Hit & Stay (a documentary film about the Catonsville 9 and other peace activists); The Sciences from Below (an international followup conference to the wildly successful 2009 City from Below conference, hosted by Red Emma's, The Baltimore Indyreader, and the Baltimore Development Cooperative); Marisela Gomez (for her history of the Middle East Baltimore neighborhood and the fight against EBDI); New Lens (for their Homophobia & Gender Oppression Education Series); and the Ella Baker Organizing Initiative (for a series of learning circles on organizing models applicable to Baltimore community organizers).
You can get started applying for your own RAF grant by reading our grant guidelines and downloading the application. Please note that RAF requires both a hard copy and an electronic copy of all application materials.
